The purpose of this course is to engage in a collaborative exploration of methodology and examine practical strategies schools have employed to close the achievement gap. Participants will see best practices of real teachers applying research-based practices in real classrooms. Using the case study method, emphasis is placed upon developing instructional strategies that will bolster learning opportunities for all students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, learning style, or any other identity around which academic achievement gaps presently revolve. Participants will be required to actively engage in reading online content, viewing videos that demonstrate classroom best practices, submitting assignments electronically, and participating in on-going discussions throughout the course.
